We are 50 Years old

On the 31st August’1958 an inaugural meeting was held on top of a garage situated at 226 Oxford Street, Paddington on the exact site of the present premises. This meeting was called to explore the possibilities of forming a club with a view to approaching the Bench of Licensing Magistrates for a liquor license.. The original meeting  was made up of 207 prospective members and was run along constitutional lines. A committee was elected with Mr R.C. Jones  the President.

A proposal was put to the Licensing magistrates on several occasions  and was refused several times until it was finally granted on April 20th’1959.

The doors opened for the first customer on Nov 15th'1959.
